McAllen, TX - As the summer heat intensifies, many local families struggle to stay cool. To combat this issue, the McAllen Rotary Club, in a heartwarming partnership with the Salvation Army and HEB, is organizing the 2023 Fan Drive, a charity event aimed at providing fans to needy families in Hidalgo County.

With safety being a priority, fan distribution this year will be a curbside service to protect our clients, staff, and volunteers amid the ongoing public health concerns. Families will drive up, show their identification and utility bill to social services, and a fan will be placed in their trunk by a staff member or volunteer.

The Fan Drive Distribution Day is scheduled for Thursday, July 27th from 8:00am - 11am, or while supplies last.  Fans will be distributed at  the Salvation Army located at 1600 N. 23rd St. McAllen. The event is open to all residents of Hidalgo County with a limit of one fan per family/per vehicle.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to HEB for their continued support to help our community stay cool this summer!
"This initiative is more than just a fan drive, it's about community support and lending a helping hand to those in need during the hot Texas summer," says Monica Rodriguez, President of McAllen Rotary Club. "We believe in the strength of our community and this is our way of showing it."

Monica Rodriguez is available for further comments and interviews.
